Fact: In 2016, over 58% of all suicide deaths in Lackawanna County were the result of gunshot wounds.*

Fact: Opiate-related suicide deaths have doubled in the last 15 years.**

Mission: The Let’s Stop Suicide prevention and education program is designed to increase awareness, decrease stigma, engage our community, and offer solutions to reduce suicides in Lackawanna County and beyond.

Taking Action.

To decrease the amount of suicides by gun, local licensed gun shops have partnered with us to distribute gun locks to any individual who purchases a gun in their store. Medication lock boxes will be distributed by local pharmacies to reduce opiate-related suicides. And both gun locks and medication lock boxes will also be available at the District Attorney’s Office and local police stations.
